TOURNAMENTS

Welcome to the official home of the Heroes Athletics Hurricanes Senior Softball Team — where experience meets passion and the love of the game never fades.

The Hurricanes began play in February 2024 as an extension of the original Heroes Athletics organization, carrying forward a proud tradition of competitive spirit, camaraderie, and respect for the game. Built for athletes age 50 and over, our team proves that dedication, teamwork, and heart only grow stronger with time.

The Hurricanes are managed by Jimmy Sneed, one of the original founders of the Virginia Vipers Softball Club for Veterans, established in 1997. The Vipers became the foundation for what would eventually grow into the Heroes Athletics Association, an organization rooted in service, sportsmanship, and brotherhood.

After relocating to Texas, Jimmy saw an opportunity to expand the reach and impact of Heroes Athletics beyond its original home. With the same vision and passion that helped launch the organization decades earlier, he set out to build a new chapter – bringing the Heroes mission to senior athletes in a new region.

More than just a team, the Heroes Athletics Hurricanes represent resilience, leadership, and the enduring competitive spirit of seasoned athletes. We honor our history, compete with pride, and continue to build something that will last for generations to come.

Welcome to Hurricanes softball – where heroes still play.

FUNDS

HAA funds adult community recreational athletic teams for the Hero and his or her family to engage socially outside of their unit/base, precinct or firehouse, creating a new community support network.

INCLUDES

HAA offers that Hero a new team or club for him or her to be accountable to on the field, links, track or court etc. In turn that adult team/sports group needs and wants the hero in order to play or participate each week.

INTERACTS

HAA ensures that all transitioning Heroes are contacted and engaged routinely by virtue of being involved in a regularly scheduled sports activity.

“A survey of more than 4,000 first responders found that 6.6 percent had attempted suicide, which is more than 10 times the rate in the general population, according to a 2015 article published in the Journal of Emergency Medical Services.”
